Good morning. It's 42 and partly cloudy. The high should be in the mid 60's and it will still be partly cloudy. Didn't do much yesterday. I repainted my old Walther's Midtown Consolidators shipping building. It is now white brick with green window frames and has a couple of 'broken' windows. I also moved a colonial style house from the spot it has occupied for the last 6 years and placed a small Cape Cod style house there. It looks better in the small space. The colonial has been relocated to the larger spot the Cape Cod was moved from. I also applied L&A decals to some rolling stock and one of my 250 ton cranes as well as a truck trailer. Today's Weather for: Sundown, LA 71446-6114 12/8/2008

The weather here has done a complete section 8! It's one storm after another! It's let up for a while now but there's more on the way. Already the power has gone out three times and I lost count of how many times the cable internet has gone down. Seems like every time I look up the modem is going offline.

Good morning. It's 39 and cloudy. The high is expected to be around 40 and it will be rainy with a chance of snow and sleet tonight. Didn't do much yesterday. I converted a BB GP38-2 to DCC only to discover that it had a bum motor. It ran but very slowly. I changed the motor out and it runs OK now. The rest of the day was spent bracing for the storm and dealing with it's aftermath. I know I won't get anything done today as I have to go to Alexandria to have my eyes dilated again so the doc can look for more damaged blood vessels due to my diabetes. At least the weather is cooperating with me for once. It'll be good and cloudy on the drive back home. Today's Weather for: Sundown, LA 71446-6114 12/10/2008
Wind Chill: 29°F Humidity: 87% Dew Point: 34°F
So Far Today High: 42°F Low: 38°F Rain: 0.00" Rain Rate: 0.00"/h Gust: 24mph NNE
Through 6 AM...scattered showers will continue to affect area along and east of a line from pecan island to Opelousas. Rainfall amounts of up to one tenth of an inch are possible as this activity moves off to the northeast at 45 mph. Elsewhere...drizzle and sprinkles will be possible over the remainder of Louisiana and southeast Texas.
Today High: 42 Rain likely. Much colder. Highs in the lower 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Tonight Low: 32 Rain likely...a chance of snow and sleet. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation. Lows in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.

Took off to Alexandria this morning for my eye appointment. Good news. The swelling in my eyes is gone and the bleeding has subsided by a good bit. The doc is quite happy and so am I. Had a breakdown on the way there though. I was about 10 miles up hwy 28 when the fuel pump suddenly quit. I pulled off onto the shoulder with a pretty good idea what was wrong. Y'all really missed quite a sight. You would'a had a good laugh watching my 260 pound body going under the back of the car. It was a tight squeeze but before I got the jack and all out I wanted to confirm my suspicion. I was right! So I got the mini floor jack out and raised the back of the car 6 inches so I could be more comfortable under there and not feel like a ham sandwich squashed between two high school history books. Here's what the problem was. About June of 2000 one of the wires going from the fuel pump to the quick connect plug behind the gas tank had broken loose from the plug. I had fixed it by splicing a wire in ahaed of the plug and joined it to the other wire with a suitcase connector. The connector has been replaced with a new one on two occasions when I had to drop the tank to install a new pump, the last being 5 years ago.(Used a cheap pump before). Well guess what! That connector had worked loose over the years and this morning the wire arced and melted the connector! I didn't have another one to put on and didn't have the time anyway so I stripped the ends of both wires and just twisted them together. The sound of the fuel pump starting up was music to my ears (it's connected through a toggle switch to the battery). I tossed the tools in the trunk and hit 70 in six and a half seconds. Not bad for a car that's running rough. The next stop was Alexandria.

Good morning. It's 37 and clear. The high is expected to be in the upper 50's and it will be partly cloudy. Spent part of yesterday testing some old power packs that I'll be sending out to people who have asked for them. Out of 7 tested only 1 showed up as bad so the rest will be sent out. Three are the standard Bachmann controllers, 1 is a BAchmann Spectrum controller and 2 are Athearn Train Packs. Also spent part of the day helping clean up after the storm night before last then spent the rest of the day recovering from the cleanup work. Today's Weather for: Sundown, LA 71446-6114 12/12/2008

Good morning. It's 42 and clearin the Sportsman's Paradise. The high will be in the mid 60's and it will be partly cloudy. Yesterday I finally got my SPSF Kodachrome GP38-2 running well after going through two bum motors. They work but any locomotive they're put in will make a snail look like it's turbo-charged. For now it has a Bachmann 1 amp decoder but will get upgraded to a Digitrax DZ125 as soon as I can get my hands on one. Cash is pretty tight right now and train stuff is just not in the budget. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I check my snail mail and find a small box containing not one, but two 1:87 vehicles. A Hot Wheels VW Bug and a Reel-Rides Mini Cooper. There was no return address on the package though the post-mark indicates it came from Detroit Michigan. Whoever sent it, you know who you are, you have my thanks. You made my day. afternoon folks. I'll get a nice big cheeseburger, had a basketball game earlier today. Our team is all 8th graders, and the team we played was all tenth graders. All things considered, we did decent, lost 37-14, lol. I got 4 fouls, one guy fouled out. So yeah, we sorta roughed them p. For once, there were guys way bigger than me on the court, lol. My knees hurt from hitting the floor so much in the 1st quarter, lol. ;D

essentially. I did commit 4 fouls (three hard, one was just a finger that hit the guy's hand after he shot), but three were hard. 1 was when I was going for the ball, another guy grabbed it, and wound up trapping my arm so I commited a reaching over the back foul. The guy did hit the floor though, lol. My knees really hurt, both where they got skinned up and on part of them when I walk.

Too bad it's totaled. The interior was flooded up to the bottom of the dash in 2001. The upholstery and the underseat electrics are ruined. Good morning. It's 64 and cloudy. The high should be in the lower 70's with rain. I'm only working on one project at present. It's am old Athearn GP38-2 chassis with AAR trucks and a Bachmann GP50 body. I'm putting a Bachmann decoder in this Heinz 57 nightmare and it'll be paired up with my Athearn SPSF Kodachrome GP38-2 which also has a Bachmann decoder. The hardest part was adapting the Athearn frame to the Bachmann body. This was definitely a shotgun wedding. I'll let you know how it turns out. Today's Weather for: Sundown, LA 71446-6114 12/15/2008

Good morning. it's 36 and cloudy with light rain. Today's high should be in the mid 40's with light rain continuing. Yesterday I got my Heinz 57 GP50 put back together and running under DCC control. I also rebuilt one of my old Athearn GP38's . It will be paired up with my SF Kodachrome GP38 in the near future. Went to see the foot doc yesterday. The remnants of the infection that was trying to start before Thanksgiving is gone. That's news I was happy to get. Today's Weather for: Sundown, LA 71446-6114 12/16/2008

Scattered showers will continue over the coastal waters along a cold front located from east of Marsh Island southwest to 80 nm south of Grand Chenier. Behind the front...scattered patches of light rain will occur across the coastal waters mainly west of Cameron and inland across southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana. This activity will move northeast at 35 mph. Rainfall will be light with amounts less than one tenth of an inch per hour.
Today High: 45 Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain. Cooler. Highs in the mid 40s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
